I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me.

The band Silenize at Every Buddys Bar

I know I usually make you wait, but in this case I am going to say it right up front.  I loved Silenize.  Loved them.   They play exactly the type of metal music that is my favorite.  Soft, and flowing, with even a bit of a ballad sound, and then punctuated by pounding, screaming, head-banging heavy metal.  They also played it very well, in tune, with good timing and not a bunch of screw ups.  In short, it was a quality performance at Every Buddy's Bar in Chippewa Falls.

It has been a busy week, and so I apologize for the delay in getting this posted.  It was now ten days ago I saw the band on stage.  But, Number One Daughter is a beekeeper and this week has been the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association state convention.  So today I am sitting in a coffeeshop in Manitowoc, drinking coffee and summing up these memories of what is now the distant past while NOD catches up on her homework.

I think I was in the perfect mood for the music of Silenize.  Last week, I saw a somewhat similar band on the big stage, Five Finger Death Punch.  But, Five Finger has only a few songs of this soft-hard musical style.   Since they were the warm up and it was a short set, they tended to sing only their hardest, punchiest tunes.  None of their softer, mixed metal and in this I was a little disappointed.  So, I was primed for a band who would play me what I missed out on.  Silenize provided.   It was everything I wanted from Five Finger Death Punch last week.  And, generally a great show.  My recommendation, see them!

Lead guitar player for the band Silenize at Every Buddy's BarOpening for Silenize was the band Our Judgement but I got to the bar a bit too late and missed them.  Sorry guys, I will try to catch your show somewhere else.

Every Buddy's Bar is a new music venue for Chippewa Falls.  It seemed like they had a fairly good crowd for these bands.  The sound was pretty good, and it is a much bigger place than I remembered it being.  But, If they want to keep it up though, they have got to look into some stage lighting.  As it was, the lighting sucked.  The band was totally backlight.  All you could really see was their silhouette on stage.

In other music news, rumor has it Cat's Ass bass player Eli Lopez is moving to North Dakota and the band is looking for a bass player.  Too bad, I thought Eli was doing a great job for the band and had an unusually exuberant personally for a bass player.  I hope they are able to replace him.

This weekend we have had to say goodbye to our friend Jen LaForest, known to many bar patrons around town as the bartender PJ.  Jen is moving back to her childhood home of Shreveport Louisiana.  She was a sweetheart, a great bartender, and we will miss her and her shockingly pink hair as she disappears from our lives.   Best wishes Jen!
