The Pimps at Every Buddys Bar and Grill January 2011

Friday night, Her Royal Highness is out sick.  She asked me to run down to the store and get some milk.  "Milk!"  I said to myself.  "Yes, yes, I will be happy to do that for you.  Let me grab my coat."  So, I caught the first set of The Pimps at Every Buddy's Bar and Grill.  I felt like I had to.   See, I got the milk first because if you go AWOL for a bit and don't come back with what you were sent out for, there is usually serious trouble.   From Gordy's, I decided to loop down Bridge Street, and park on Central pointed toward home.  That's the experienced drinker in me talking.  But Central was full.  So was the Central Street parking lot, the Dollar Store lot and street parking on Bay.  Ok, well this just elevated the show to something I had to see.

I got there just as sound check was starting and caught almost the whole set.  Musically, I would give them a tentative thumbs up.  It was high energy.    I love music that you can pogo too.  Earlier in the afternoon I hit their web site where they stream a few songs.  If I would have had a little more time I would have given it more than just one listen, I might have liked the music more.  As it was, the band left you wondering what was going to be next, I found that a touch disconcerting.  Still though,  it was a good show.  Entertaining, but overly chatty.  People are there in the bar to hear music, not a bunch of chatter from the band.

The question I have for The Pimps is, we already heard that you are from down by Chicago.  You told us.  So, if we already know you are from a big city, why do you still have to say fuck all the time?  I feel like Kirk to your Spock when I say you are doing it wrong.  Colorful metaphors have somewhat more effect when used more sparsely.  More than three per sentence and the original idea becomes somewhat lost.  Just saying…
