I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me. ~Hunter S. Thompson

Amy M lead singer for the band CherryGun on stage at Teds Timberlodge, October 2011.
I spent much of this last week in St. Cloud Minnesota at a computer related conference. Before I left, and before I knew of the absolute dearth --a word I don't use lightly, of musical entertainment in the city of St. Cloud, I ran down my usual list of Twin Cities bands to see if they would be playing up there. The absolute first band I contacted was Amy M with CherryGun. I saw them last at Rockfest in Cadott a year ago and they totally blew me away. My sense of irony was pinged of course when I found out while I would be in St. Cloud, they would be on stage only a few short miles from my home. Doubly so, because the previous time I was in St. Paul for an overnight they Amy M and her acoustic act was playing in Menomonee. Luckily this time, CherryGun was an extended stay and I was able to catch them upon my return Saturday night.

So the band was great and all. Ted's Timberlodge, not so much. It was the first time in my life I have been purposefully snubbed by a bartender. I didn't really like it. It was hot in the bar, with the big crowd and there was very little air movement. The Wife, even minimally dressed as she likes to be for events of this type, was over heating. Hot and sweating, at the end of a song while preparing to clap, she lost dermatological contact with her Bud Light. The almost full beer, the first beer of the night, hit the floor. I picked up the glass as best I could. I asked the bar tender for a bar rag, but in the meantime a guy with a broom showed up. But we seemed to be cut off at that point. The woman who was bar tending turned a blind eye to me. Evidently accidents don't happen at Ted's Timberlodge. And, if they do, they are dicks about it. So I am unlikely to go back and reward bad customer service. When the set break came we drove back to the friendlier bars of Chippewa to quench our thirst.
