1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, beated
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups flour (substitute super whole wheat flour)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (I usually skip)
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup reserved pear syrup
1 16-ounce can pears, diced
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts

Cream together butter and sugars until light.  Blend in eggs and vanilla.  Sift together all dry ingredients and add to butter mixture alternately with pear syrup. 
Stir in pears, raisins and nuts and pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan.  I bake at 350 degree and put the timer on for 45 minutes and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
