Music Business

"The Music Business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs.  There's also a negative side."
--Hunter S. Thompson
We Miss The CARP 99.9
Sun shiny days make me think of summer.  Thinking of summer makes me think of how much we are going to miss our radio station.

Are the Honaker's considering a change of last name?
Throughout the pregnancy of our 3rd daughter, we had quite a bit of trouble coming up with a name for her. Even after she was born, we still had no name. It wasn't until her second day out of the womb that we picked her name, "Emily Rose Honaker". Finally at yesterday's Cinco de Mayo event, Andrew got to meet Emily. We knew from that day forward that the two would be mortal enemies (but that is another story altogether).

First bunch of photos from Cinco de Mayo
First cut of photos from Cinco de Mayo.  I added a few more Sunday morning.  It was another great party at the Mullens!

Carson cuts loose at Native Bay
Carson Honker is a new father. But did you know he is a heavy drinker too? Milk drinker that is. The "guys" night out featured a wide selection of local brews sampled at a moderate level of consumption this thursday. But Carson was having none of it. "Solo leche" was Carson's refrain all evening as the "men of freaks and geeks" discussed bio energy, future bookstores, and a wide range of other heady topics.

Freaks and Geeks mired in mid-week Scandal!!!
Film at eleven...A major scandal has broken out in the freaks and geeks "community" and its not even thursday!  With June fast approaching the question of how many nights to go camping still dogs the family.  A severe backlash erupted as Joanna (the self-proclaimed supreme leader of the freaks and geeks club) issued an edict stating the camp trip had been cut short one night.   Emails from Janine, Paul, and others rebuked Joanna nearly immediately.  However, it was a strong-worded email from John Abbott that was the talk of the Chippewa Falls coffee shops this morning.  John, who is seen as the heir apparent to the freaks and geeks throne, seems to be  making a power play for club dominance through his sharply worded emails. Just how this will be resolved is anyone's guess at this point.  Stay tuned...

Who are the Freaks and Geeks?
Freaks and Geeks, Chippewa Falls Premier Lunch Club. Serving a wide variety of oddities including lentils, chilis, stinky cheeses, and crisps. A lunch club that brings the lunch back into club.

For just over two years the "Freaks & Geeks" have been meeting Tuesdays for lunch. All in a vain attempt to do one thing.... Serve a better lunch. We are a group of friends and neighbors who have built some great memories around some of our social events which have included a group camping trip, annual New Year's Eve party, Halloween party, a talent show and a 70's party and more events to come.

Who are the people of the Freaks and Geeks lunch club?

The Freaks & Geeks: Kara, Carson, Amanda, John, Paul, Joanna (chapter President and High Queen), Andrew, Gordon, Jon, Aimee, Anwen, Heather, Erin, and Krista.

And, our Squeeks:

Too numerous to name!

For more information, membership application, or to sponser one of our children to the four year private college of our choice, see your local Freaks and Geeks representative or visit http://freaksandgeeks.org.

A second scandal rocks Freak -n- Geeks Club!!!
On the heels of last minute's scandal over whether to camp for one day or two, the Freaks and Geeks club is engulfed in flames again. This time the furor is over which day to have this summer's annual "picnic day" in the park.. Some say Tuesday. Others cry out for Thursday. "Just how to choose the best day is proving more difficult than we had anticipated," commented Gordon on his way off to an early morning garage sale. That sentiment was echoed by Anwen, who sees merit in each day and is personally torn between all of them. But what started out as a bit of a joke has turned downright frustrating for others. "I just say pick a day and be done with it!!" says Janine. " I mean they don't call it the freaks and geeks club for nothing, now do they?" she continued. Meanwhile, for some the thought of switching days seems almost akin to switching from a wiki-based social networking software to Joomla. "Let's try a few days and see which one we like the best," one freak and/or geek who didn't want his/her name mentioned in this story stated. Well, it has been a stormy week of scandals and its only Wednesday. It looks like its going to be a rocky summer season.

Freaks and Geeks Go Camping
The next major Freaks and Geeks event is June 8th and 9th.  Camping at Brunet Island campground.  With an attempt to organize a bike ride up the Old Abe Trail for those willing and able to make the ride.  By car, the trip looks to be about 25 miles.  Since the bike trails follow the old rail lines, which are sometimes a more direct route, the bike trail could be shorter.

Not significantly shorter, though, and so this author plans to be responsible for driving the beer to the camp site.

T-Shirts, the real reason to go camping, are being designed by Joanna and will be available before the event for the cost of $10/shirt.  Children's sizes may be available.
