Early life
Amy Monaghan, or as she is perhaps better known, Amy M, has lived a life of music. She currently (2011) has a cover band called CherryGun, performing for crowds across the midwest 2-6 nights a week with 80's Rock to Current Hits.
About once a month, she also performs a bit quieter sets with the Amy M Acoustic Duo.
She has been on the "Mustache & Miniskirt Tour" with Hudson TropRocker, Jambo Joe Bones since June 2010.
But, she has been performing since she was a little girl. Even though she was self admittedly a terrible actor, she was in musical theater just so she could sing. At 12, she was finally allowed to sing at church. She began writing and playing piano when she was 16 & recording when she was 18. She started her first band when she was 19. They were as she says "not so good...hahaha". And even has a demo to prove it :)
The same year, she joined a Christian R&B/Pop Band called "Big, Big Fish". After recording with BBF, she worked as a secretary at the studio, where she was able to record BGV's for national Christian artists and bands. It was quite a thrill for the young Amy M.
She joined her husband's band "Maricopa Haze" in 1999 as a background vocalist and keyboard player. This is how he bacame "Danhazer".
Amy wrote and recorded 3 solo albums that Danhazer produced in their studio. "Quiet Place" in 1999, "Deep Blue Sky" in 2001, and "Sparkle" in 2006. With the release of "Sparkle", she formed a band with hopes of performing about once a month in churches and Christian venues as "Amy Monaghan". They played a few shows, but it wasn't enough. This was when I changed my stage name to "Amy M" and discovered her love for performing cover songs. The Amy M Band caught on like wildfire, and we suddenly bagan playing every weekend. she kept writing songs and recorded the EP "86 Days". After four years of performing as the Amy M Band, she decided to be the best cover band they could be and changed the band name to CherryGun. Now they play all cover songs from 80's rock to fun girl pop like Lady Gaga & Katie Perry to slammin country. CherryGun is all about PARTY!
Amy joined the Mustache & Miniskirt Tour as a vacation from CherryGun. She & Jambo kick back on their stools, singing Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band TropRock, Country, Awesome 70's Mustache Rock stuff & Jamboriginals from his CD, "Bar on a Beach".
When she is not busy performing or trying to be a good mom to her 11 year old boy, she love to get out and see other local bands and musicians. Her loves are live music, sushi. .....and beer ;)
