Band HistoryThe East Hill Bluegrass Band joined the Eau Claire music scene in 2001, on the big front porch of a downtown neighborhood house. There, band rehearsals became impromptu concerts, as people stopped to hear them play. The band now plays around western Wisconsin, performing at clubs and festivals. East Hill has been the opening act for such nationally known groups as the James King Band. The East Hill Bluegrass Band combines two families into one tight sound. Max Winkels plays banjo and sings and brother Greg Winkels plays the guitar. Bob Bruce plays the mandolin and provides lead vocals. Mary Bruce provides rhythmic drive on the bass and sings high harmonies.
