Jess McChesney on stage at the Snout Saloon, May 2010

Early life

The Flying Carpet Show is a show for people who like to party and have fun. The idea for the show came from Keller Williams, using phrase sampling and multiple instruments to create layers of sound that run in a continuous loop. What started as a wonderful way to practice turned into a show. Fueled by Jess' love for extended jamming and exploration, each show contains elements that are being invented on the spot as the groove moves.

Jess plays here and there for small private parties and bars and likes the intimate atmosphere of a 50 person space all dancing the paint off the walls! "I like to definitely feel where the crowd is at in the jam. If I play a cover song and it resonates with the people at a given time, I will explore that tact and style for several minutes until the mood changes, you can easily see it in the audience. It's like a sonic dance, the intent is to keep the audience in a positive uplifting place for as long as possible because it is always the audience that fuels the heart of the performance, and the heart needs love baby"
